Owners Jes and Jason Yowell believe food should be local, fresh and real. With that in mind, a few years back they began envisioning themselves providing a new type of dining experience for those living around or passing through their small college town – an experience centered not upon conventional, industrial food but rather food from the heart. This idea led to the birth of Shift, a bicycle-themed restaurant located in downtown Frostburg.
At Shift, Jes’ passion for food, farmers and community is intertwined with her husband’s love for “anything bicycles.” The result? … A little corner spot that provides much more than just another meal. Its people make you feel at home as soon as you walk inside, its walls hold the creations of area artists, and its windows display recycled bicycle wheels adorned with old-time dinner plates.
And the food? Organic, of course, it comes from local farmers and bakers who put their souls into the crops they grow, the animals they raise, and the product they produce. Best of all, it’s made from scratch by people who love not only cooking but their community, too – a “Shift” indeed to the way mealtime was meant to be.
